New online testing!
If you do not have a testing location close by or if you can not make it to testing on the scheduled dates then online testing might be for you.
Online testing takes place in your own home on the dates listed above. Each tester will need his/her own computer. Before test day you will need to run a system check on your computer and download the Pearson browser. Pearson says this takes an average of 1 1/2 minutes total. There is a technical support # on Pearson's website if you need help.
The online version of the test is the same test as the original paper and pencil version, only the student does not have a test booklet in front of him/her and there is no bubble sheet to fill in. One question at a time comes up on the screen and the student clicks on his/ her answer. Then he picks next. The student has a chance to mark a question so that he can return to it. At the end of each sub test the student has an opportunity to review his answers before leaving that section. Once a sub test is closed a student can not return to that section. Because of this, extra time has been added to the schedule for each sub test.
The test is proctored just like the paper and pencil version. You will need to call into a 1-800 # that will be provided. The proctor will read the directions to the students and then the students will work until they finish the sub test they are working on. They are then free until the next section on the schedule begins. The proctor will then read the directions for the next section and so on.
The students can not jump ahead or around on the test because the proctor controls everything from his/her computer. The proctor needs to open up each section for the students to begin. From her computer the proctor can look at the students' tests and see how they are progressing.
Results arrive within days.
